Generous donors provided a wonderful Christmas for our children in Kenya. The boys asked for blue jeans (they had never owned a pair) to wear for Christmas and each child received a new pair of tennis shoes. The tradition for Christians in Kenya is to gather on Christmas Day and worship together. Ruth says that dressing up on that day is much like what we do here in America on Easter.
But, Ruth and Mescal's Kids were not happy with just experiencing the joy of the gifts from America for themselves. They planned and gave a Christmas party for their less fortunate neighbors. [see pictures below]
They shared their food, bottled Coca-Colas (a real treat), and the children sang Christmas songs for them.
Ruth and Mescal's Kids are always reaching out and serving in their community, sharing what little resourses they have with others.
