Ellen Photo.JPG
Ellen Ward

Ellen was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and still calls the Capital City home! Receiving a degree from Troy University, Ellen went on to spend much of her career serving in various ministry roles, most recently as Frazer UMC’s Director of Missions, a role form which she retired several years ago. Ellen has one adult daughter, Jessica, who lives in Sacramento, California, and works as an attorney for Fishery and Wildlife for the State of California. Ellen currently serves as a volunteer in prison ministry, as well as in the “Reader to Leader” program in the Montgomery Public School System. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys oil painting, crocheting, gardening, and reading.

When Ellen was asked what drew her to be a part of the ministry of Mescal’s, she shared the following: “I first heard about Mescal's at Frazer Church. When I became the Director of Missions at Frazer, it was my job to learn about all the ministries that we were supporting. As I learned the amazing work that God and His children were doing at MCCH, I personally began to financially support this ministry as well as through my prayers. My first test of a ministry is who is the leadership and how do they lead. With Mescal's what has impressed me the most is that everything is prayed over before a decision is made. Spirit-led is the only way to do ministry. These precious children are being educated and transformed and their community is being transformed. "
